This course is designed for beginner enthusiasts who have
never done kayaking and would like to learn fast, or for
people with some previous experience (have already done our
first level course or have paddled before).
This course concentrates on going deeper into the development
of the skills necessary to safely go out to the bay, protected
marine environments, large lakes and slow water rivers.
We’ll do one quick theory
introduction to level out the knowledge of the group so
we can go deeper on other themes such as:
- Advanced paddling techniques.
- Advanced
rescue techniques.
- Ocean paddling conditions.
- Basic navigation concepts.
- Winds, currents, and tides.
In this course we will go deeper especially
with topics such as paddling and techniques with the kayak,
rescue safety and techniques, and fundamentals about tides,
currents, and weather.
At the end of the course, the student
will be able effectively manage a sea kayak en protected
marine environments, lakes, and slow moving rivers, and will
be able to perform self rescue in these conditions as well
as offer help to other kayakers in trouble. You will also
be able to identify potential dangers on the sea and in lakes,
to anticipate them and minimize the risks in these environments.
Includes
- Transportation from the Kayak Australis
classroom to the practice places.
- Double and single kayaks,
paddles, spray skirts, lifejackets, and wet suits.
- Safety and rescue equipment.
- Light lunch, drinks and fruit both
days.
- Free one year inscription in
the Kayak Australis Club.

Requirements
- Know how to swim
- State of health compatible
with the activity.
- Be at least
fifteen (15) years of age.
Observations
- This course is ideal for those who
are interested in sea kayaking as a sport and some exploration.
- The
maximum number of students per group is 8, with one instructor
for each 4 students.
Schedule
- Theory Classes: two theory classes
of 2.5 hours each (Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 pm – 10:00pm).
- Practical
Classes: two complete days of practice (Saturday and Sunday)
from 9:00am – 7:00pm.
