Self rescue in double kayak
|
This course is designed to be the
first step into the world of sea and tour kayaking. Different
from what many think, the kayak is not necessarily an unstable
and extreme boat, only for the most brave. The sea kayak
can be enjoyed by any age or skill level. It is the ideal
boat for recreation and relaxation and keeping you in good
shape.
This course will initiate you into the
sport, learning and practicing what’s necessary to:
- Identify and select adequate equipment.
- Identify places and conditions to do
this sport.
- Basic safety rules.
- Execute techniques
to embark and disembark.
- Execute the
basic paddling techniques.
- Execute the basic
assisted rescue and self rescue techniques.
This course consists of one theory class
and one practical session which will be done in one day,
may be on a Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday. The theory class
begins at 9:00 am in our classroom and lasts approximately
1 hour, in which we will see some videos explaining the fundamental
theory of the sport. The practical session, which uses the
rest of the day, will begin immediately after the theory
class, with the transfer from the classroom to a place with
calm water (lake or lagoon), where we will practice the basic
techniques and do a relaxing tour.
At the end of this course, the student
will be able to easily manage a sea kayak on calm water,
as well as confront problems that may come up in these conditions.
