Sea Kayaking in South & Lakes District
|
This zone is one of the most heterogeneous for its landscapes
and activities that can be done, with a climate that is becoming
more humid little by little, and a terrain covered by expansive
forests and numerous lakes and rivers.
 |
| Pirihueico Lake, Chile. |
The most recommended rivers for sea kayaking are the River
Cruces and the Rio Bueno. The River Cruces is located in
the tenth region and has main attractions that take root
in it being a bird sanctuary.
Practically all the lakes in this zone are navigable: Conguillío,
Villarrica, Caburgua, Pirihueico, Neltume, Ranco, Maihue,
Llanquihue and Todos Los Santos, are only the most well known.
The major characteristics of these lakes are their surroundings
which for the most part include native forests, steep sloping
hills and are dominated by large volcanoes, the most attractive
of them have places that can only be arrived at by water.
The term “exploration” receives its real meaning
in these places.
