 Attractive
Aculeo Lagoon
This is one of the main
ecological reserves in the Metropolitan Region. It
has mirey shores and its banks are not very
steep, except where the hills come down to the
water, making it deeper. This lake has 2
islands with a lot of plant life that are home for
many species, especially birds. The surrounding
areas are snowy, and forested valleys and ravines. |
Situated near Santiago, the Aculeo Lagoon makes an ideal
place to do a relaxing paddle in a touring kayak, any season
of the year and for any level of kayaking experience.
At an altitude of 350 meters, surrounded by the hills of
the Costal Mountains, the lagoon is a sanctuary for aquatic
birds native to this part of the country. Thanks to the abundant
vegetation here, we can find a diverse species of birds:
Coot, Black Necked Swan, Heron (Huairavo, Garza, White Necked),
and the Olivaceous Cormorant.
 Itinerary
Depart at 9:00 AM from Santiago in our
vehicle to the Aculeo Lagoon.
Once at the lagoon and the equipment is ready, we’ll
do a short practice on the basics of paddling and safety.
After this, we’ll begin the excursion, going around
the perimeter of the lagoon, pausing to watch the birds in
their natural habitat.
We’ll stop for lunch on one of the beaches then continue
circling the lagoon back to where we started. During this
tour, we’ll visit the islands in this lagoon where
we’ll see more birds, especially Herons.
Return to Santiago at about 8:00pm.

Lagoon in our vehicle.
- Lunch and snack.
- Kayak equipment (double or single kayaks,
life jackets, paddles, spray skirts, safety equipment,
dry sacs).
- Bilingual
guide and assistant.

- Meals not indicated in the program.

- Group of a minimum of 3 people.
- Groups of 4 or more people can choose
their own date to do this trip.
- There are departures every day, but
the trip must be confirmed at least 3 days in advance.
