True to our spirit, this trip is a good opportunity to get to know an area of the Patagonia which is still remote and untamed. This adventure will take us from the Andes heights to the Pacific Ocean. We will start at Puelo Lake in Argentina, cross several beautiful lakes and row the waters of Puelo River until we reach the Pacific coast in Chile. Along this crossing we will meet settlers, sleep in their homes and they will be the ones who will take our gear from lake to lake using oxen pulled carts.
Itinerary
Day 1. Bariloche / El Bolsón.
We gather at the meeting point and go to a hotel in El Bolsón.
Day 2. Puelo Lake / Las Rocas Lake. Crossing to Chile, rowing along lakes Puelo and Inferior to then take our equipment by cart for the first time. Camping set by Las Rocas Lake.
Day 3. Las Rocas Lake / Bandurrias Island. After only a three hour row to get to Bandurrias Island and then enjoy a good family lodge in the middle of the lake.
Day 4. Bandurrias Island / Azul Lake. We will row for two hours and then take our equipment by cart to Azul Lake. On the way we will visit some ancient forests and we will spend the night at the home of settlers, with a great view of the lake.
Day 5. Azul Lake / Puelo River.
We will sail for three hours, then take our equipment by cart and reach a support pickup truck which will bring us supplies. Camping and fire by Puelo riverside.
Day 6. Puelo River / Tagua Tagua Lake. We will row down Puelo River, famous for its fishing and esmerald color waters. Camping is set by Tagua Tagua Lake.
Day 7. Tagua Tagua / final stretch of Puelo River. Night sail to avoid the strong wind in the lake. We will cross to camp by the riverside of Puelo River.
Day 8. Puelo River / Reloncavi Estuary. We will paddle the last stretch of Puelo River, which is perhaps the most beautiful, before we reach the Pacific Ocean where we meet with a our transfer to drive to Puerto Varas.
