Natural Monument of Cachagua Island
The Natural Monument of Cachagua island has a extension of 4.5 acres. The Island, also called penguin island, getting its name because the two penguin species living there, humbolt and magellanic, This island is located in the northern part of the Cachagua beach, its separated from the beach by a 100 mts. being the perfect habitat for lots of sea birds such as penguins, seagulls, cormorants (like Yeco, Lile, Guanay), pelicans, you also can find a singular mammal that is called chungungo, its a kind of otter.
This island was declared Natural Sanctuary in 1979.

Located near Viña del Mar en the region of Valparaiso, Zapallar its a little beach thats surrounded by little hills, this produces a micro weather and protecting it from strong winds.
Our Sea Kayak excursion is about discovering the sea wildlife, we will explore the Zapallar bay and Cachagua bay and if the weather allows us we will surround the island been more exposed to the waves.
The Cachagua bay is located in the Monumento Natural Isla de Cachagua (Natural monument, Island of Cachagua) where you can find several islets in which there a magnificent biodiversity with mammals examples like the chungungo and also can find sea birds as seagulls, penguins and cormoran.
 Itinerary
Departure 8:00 am from Santiago in our vehicles towards the coast
In Zapallar the sailing begins in the Caleta, before beginning the excursion we will preform little paddling practice and some safety aspects.
The excursion is through zapallar bay surrounding the cachagua island and then a stop to rest and eat in cachagua beach, then back the the kayaks and paddle to the Caleta
the returning to santiago starts approx 18:00 hrs
