Kayak Australis Atractivos Atractivos

Quintupeo Fjord
It has a narrow entrance and big waterfalls with giant walls of rock, you will be able to se Arces, Coihues, tepas and ulmos, which here we have found the tallest and oldest trees with more than 3600 years old. You can also appreciate the mighty Hornopiren Volcano.

Pumalín Park
Pumalin Natural Park have more than 320 thousands acres, Created by Douglas Tompkins. The park is divided in sectors and each counts with camping zone, restrooms, cabins, info center, and souvenir store. Also have trails for hiking.

Estuario de Reloncaví
Zigzagging road between forests and the mighty Osorno volcano, the Estuario de Reloncaví appears after crossing the Petrohué river bridge, which is the frontier for the southern and northern part.

This is a trip for those who do not have time for a full trip. We go straight to the heart of Pumalin Park and travel along the Quintupeo and Cahuelmó fjords, both remarkable for their beauty which only compares to Fjord Land in New Zealand. We will row between huge granite walls and waterfalls that plunge into the ocean. We will see plenty of flora and fauna such as austral dolphins, sea lions and many birds -most of them endemic- and enjoy hot spring baths and walks to hidden lakes that very few have visited.

Kayak Australis Itinerary Itinerary

Day 1. Puerto Varas / Hornopirén.
We pick you up at the meeting point and as we drive south towards Hornopiren. We will cross on a ferry and once on the other side enjoy the Pichicolo thermal spring, our last stop until reaching caleta Cholgo, were we set camp and spend the night.

Day 2. Hornopirén / Quintupeo Fjord
We will drive south and reach the ocean and once in our Kayaks we will have a talk on safety, rescue and paddling instructions. We will start paddling towards the narrow entrance of Quintupeo fjord. This day we will sail for 4 spectacular hours in the heart of Pumalin Park. The Fjord has huge granite walls; we can see waterfalls that jump from the Andes to the sea and in this -undoubtedly- beautiful little corner of this planet we will set camp at the end of the fjord and relax.

Day 3. Quintupeo / Cahuelmó.
This will be our longest day; we will paddle for 5 to 6 hours, nearly 16mi and depending on the weather and the tide, we might have to do some night sailing, which will give us a different view of the fiord. As every effort is rewarded, we will arrive to Cahuelmo Fiord after about 5 hours, a wonderful place with big mountains that rise from the sea and then go inland amongst narrow valleys just waiting to be explored. We will see a colony of sea lions and once we have reached the end of the fiord we will find the Cahuelmo Hot Springs, a part of the Pumalin Project. We will set camp near the natural pools dug on the rock by local people in the early 30`s. We will enjoy a hot spring bath and the amazing southern latitude sunset followed by dinner and free afternoon.

Día 4. Cahuelmó / Puerto Varas.
Today we wale up early and paddle north to Pichanco. Here we will meet our private mini bus that will take us back to Puerto Varas by a shorter way this time, crossing by ferry the Reloncavi Fjord and going by the small towns of Puelo and Cochamo.
