Serrano River
The natural limit of the South West part of the Torres del Paine National Park this river is 38 kms long and runs along an extensive plain covered in sedament and partially in grass. Beginning where the Lago Toro empties at the extreme Western part of this large body of water, it flows from the Torres del Paine National Park towards the Straight of Ultima Esperanza.
Torres del Paine National Park
The National Park Torres del Paine is, without doubt, one of the most spectacular national parks in the country. A world biosphere reserve, it has a huge variety of plant and animal species which, with its incredibly beautiful setting has made it an almost unequalled destination for hikers and backpackers, ecology-lovers and adventure sportsmen alike. Snow-capped mountain peaks, cascading rivers and waterfalls, glaciers and mirrored lakes: in all respects Torres del Paine national park deserves its reputation.
B. O'Higgins National Park
Created in 1969 and made larger in 1985, this National Park is the largest in Chile, with a surface area of 3,525,901 hectares. The place is know for its large ice surfaces, among those worth mentioning are the Southern Ice Fields, the Dr. Juan Bruggen Ice Field, and the Patagonian Ice Field. Together these have an extense of 1,100,500 hectares
Geike Lake and Glacier
Located inside the Torres del Paine National Park, the Geike Glacier stems off of the main body of the Tyndall Glacier, going South and breaking off in the lake of the same name.
